During my 25-year tenure as a full-time real estate agent, I have not spent most of my time pursuing academic coursework to accumulate a long list of accredited real estate designations (except for the mandatory 'continuing education' courses required by the State of Florida, which, in my view, often demonstrate little more than the ability to pass examinations. Selling anything is an art. Simply having a college education or advanced degrees does not necessarily make someone an expert in sales.
Each member of The Beatles did not know how to read music (at least not in the formal sense), and yet look at what they accomplished. Many other artists—whether in acting, painting, sculpting, singing, dancing, or other fields—have achieved extraordinary success without a college education.
No, I do not hold the prestigious designation acronyms that many of my peers display after their names. However, I have maintained a modest yet successful career and have weathered the many temperaments of the South Florida real estate market over the past 25 years.
At 73, I could be retired, but I enjoy selling real estate too much to give it up just yet. I am not focused on volume sales; I am focused on quality performance.
